This process is necessary because liquid cleaners won't cut through the white calcium scale and a pumice stone will not work. Both of these processes have their drawbacks. The best way to prevent this is to use a thick jelly-like tile cleaner and a soft scrungie pad. Always use protective goggles to protect your eyes. The average pool is about one hundred linear feet. It is also advisable, after the glass bead process is finished, to apply a clear sealer which helps to inhibit future calcium deposits and creates a barrier between the tile and the water.
