Our Porta Vac machine puts the dirt and debris in our filter not yours. The dirty water is vacuumed into the filter and returned to the pool fresh and clean. This process keeps your equipment cleaner and in need of less repair.

After having your pool cleaned in this manner, it's hard to have it done any other way. Why clog and dirty your pool system when we can take the dirt with us! Porta Vac and Porta Pool Services are protected service marks, kind of like a trade mark; but we in the service industry use the term defined as service mark or sm tile cleaning.

This process is necessary because liquid cleaners won't cut through the white calcium scale and a pumice stone will not work. Both of these processes have their drawbacks. First of all, a liquid tile cleaner can be very dangerous. If the cleaner was to splash into one or both of your eyes, you could lose partial or full vision permanently. If you decide to use this process, use protective goggles and rubber gloves, and always wash your hands with soap and water when finished.

The other method used by lots of people who clean their own tile is to scrub the tile with pumice stone. This will remove scale, but it leaves scratches on the tile, dulling the finish and leaving grooves for future scale deposits to collect in.

The glass bead process uses glass impact beads. These beads resemble sand. The difference is that the glass beads are designed to hit and bounce, not hit and dig in. Glass beading will leave your tile clean and shiney. Usually the worst scale deposits are on the spa wall where the air and water collide. This constant combination inevitably causes scale deposits.

The best way to prevent this is to use a thick jelly-like tile cleaner and a soft scrungie pad. Always use protective goggles to protect your eyes. The average pool is about one hundred linear feet. The cost runs between 2.50 to 5.00 per linn. foot. It is also advisable, after the glass bead process is finished, to apply a clear sealer which helps to inhibit future calcium deposits and creates a barrier between the tile and the water.
